Manchester International Festival
Brand identity / typography / print design

Manchester International Festival (MIF) - is a biennial international arts festival, with a specific focus on original new work, held in the English city of Manchester. Artists from different art forms and backgrounds create dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking new work for this festival. All works are staged in various venues across Greater Manchester – from theatres, galleries and concert halls to railway depots, churches and car parks.

Brief: To create identity for upcoming MIF week.
Solution: MIF is often described as a festival where "anything that could happen, probably will happen". In other words, you can expect unexpected. Around this idea of "expect unexpected" the brand identity is formed - bespoke type lock-up can be read in various ways and plays with reader's eyes. It is flexible and changing, a little bit edgy as creative areas of Manchester and uses contemporary vivid colour palette. Font's pattern can be used as a design element by itself and/or to compliment the type lock-up on festivals posters and merchandise.
